WHAT SKINCARE IS RIGHT FOR YOUR SKIN TYPE?
Is it just me or do you also have a tendency to buy your products based on appearance? I am obsessed with beautiful products and pretty packaging but when it comes to skincare, this may not be the best way to come to a buying decision.
What should you look for when purchasing your skincare range?
Well, there are a number of important factors which influence this decision but your skin type should definitely be up there at the top, so let’s focus on this one.
There are four different skin types, namely; normal/combination, dry, oily and sensitive. So what does that actually mean?
This basically means that your skin is well balanced. Signs of this could be a slightly oily T-Zone ( forehead, chin and nose) but the rest of your skin’s moisture is balanced and is not too dry nor too oily.
You may experience some tightness on your face throughout the day and perhaps even slight flaking of the skin. Dry skin can be caused by multiple factors such as genetics, environment, lifestyle and diet or dehydration.
Oily skin is caused by an overproduction of sebum (an oily substance) from your glands, located under the skins surface. Sebum does have it’s benefits and it’s not all bad but it can also leave your pores clogged and congested. The good news is that people who have oily skin are less prone to wrinkles due to the natural moisture produced.
People with sensitive skin may just be more prone to irritation or reactions from certain product ingredients, such as chemicals and fragrances. It’s always better for those with sensitive skin to look for organic and natural ingredients.
So the next time you see that amazingly packaged product make sure you know if it will be compatible with your skin because not knowing your skin type could lead to a misdiagnosis and your new products could cause skin irritation, breakouts or could dry out your skin leading to wrinkles.
In order to love the skin you’re in you have to make sure you know everything about it!
