WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT MOISTURISERS

When shopping for skincare products, it can feel a bit daunting looking at all the products and deciding which you should buy, seeing as how there are so many difficult options on the market right now.

You are likely to spend most of your time googling what the difference is between an elixir and a serum vs a moisturiser and how do you know which one you are supposed to buy because they all seem to have their own benefits.

You already have so many other factors that you have to consider – is this suitable for my skin type? Is this the right product for my age group? Should I have a separate day and night cream? Not even factoring in that you probably have to decide what to cook for dinner tonight as well.

A moisturiser is typically just a cream that you can use after cleansing your face. They are usually clearly marked as either a day/night cream or simply just a moisturiser.

Let’s keep it simple and just focus on when and why you should moisturise.

Why is it important to use a moisturiser?

Having a good moisturiser helps prevent and treat dry skin and can also improve the texture of your skin. Using a good moisturiser daily can also improve your natural glow and keep your skin healthy and radiant.

When should you moisturise?

You should be using your moisturiser daily after cleansing (morning and evening). It is not always necessary to use different products for morning and evening unless your day cream has SPF included, in this case we would recommend that you have a separate night cream.

Should all skin types use a moisturiser?

Yes, all skin types should moisturise daily. Moisturisers are used to hydrate the skin and improve texture. If your skin is naturally oily, you should still find a product that works specifically for you skin, so if you’re worried about it appearing too shiny you can use an oil-free alternative.

If you’re still not sure what moisturiser you should use, read our blog on different skin types and this should help you figure out where to start.

Remember to be good to your skin, you’ll wear it every day for the rest of your life!
